The customer's outdated electrical infrastructure led to disruptive shutdowns, prompting the installation of 9 Voltage Optimisation HV transformers by Powerstar. This solution led to approximately £720K per annum in cost savings and a significant CO2 reduction of approximately 3030 tonnes per annum.

Situation

  • Outdated electrical infrastructure at the customers facility was unable to effectively regulate voltage leading to disruptive and costly shutdowns.
  • The customer aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2025.

Action

  • Powerstar have provided 9 Voltage Optimisation HV transformers tailored to specific requirements ensuring stable voltage levels and preventing production shutdowns.
  • These advanced transformers replaced the outdated units, ensuring stable voltage levels and preventing disruptive dips. By regulating voltage effectively, the VO HV MAX transformers eliminate production shutdowns, minimise downtime and financial losses.

Impact

  • The stabilised voltage levels maximised power utilisation efficiency whilst also preventing production disruptions, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
  • The achieved energy savings of 5.91% and 2.42M  KWh per annum resulted in cost savings of approximately £720K per annum.
  • Furthermore, with a significant CO2 reduction of approximately 3030 tonnes per annum.
