D2Zero company Fuel Cell Systems have successfully demonstrated the viability of hydrogen technology, travelling over 900 miles in a hydrogen fuelled Toyota Mirai. The final destination was Brussels, showcasing the real-world potential of clean hydrogen transportation.

The team started at their headquarters in Hungerford, traveling to Heathrow to refuel. They covered 450 miles via ferry and road to Brussels where they attended the European Hydrogen Week Conference, before making the journey back to the UK.

Impact

Compared to a petrol car traveling the same journey, the hydrogen-powered vehicle saved 46kg of CO2 on the trip. The Toyota Mirai performed exceptionally well, covering significant distances and adapting to various travel conditions, demonstrating hydrogen’s capability for long-distance travel.
