Full system integration on a newly built hydrogen refuelling station

Energy transition

Full system integration of capital equipment at a newly built hydrogen refuelling station optimised overall system quality and performance.

TotalEnergies and Air Liquide partnered to develop a network of hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) aimed at refuelling heavy-duty vehicles along major European road corridors. One of the stations, located in Roosendaal, The Netherlands, required a competent local sub-contractor for the full system integration of the capital equipment on site.

HRS refill hydrogen fuel cell vehicles with pressurised hydrogen. Hydrogen fuel is more efficient and cleaner than petrol or diesel, producing only water vapor as emissions and offering higher energy content. Hydrasun was selected to deliver full system integration, small bore tubing installation, hook-up of all capital equipment, and testing of all mechanical systems.

Impact

Hydrasun designed the modular containment and structural support for the hydrogen refuelling structure. They mobilised a multi-disciplined team and a mobile workshop to the site, taking charge of overall site management. Additionally, Hydrasun deployed HSE resources to collaborate with the site services team, developing and controlling all safe systems of work to ensure the project's reliable delivery.

This refuelling station is the first of its kind, specifically designed and built to incorporate the latest advancements and meet customer expectations in hydrogen technology. The station supplies hydrogen at pressures suitable for passenger cars, buses and trucks.

At a glance
  • A network of hydrogen refuelling stations across Europe were being developed
  • Hydrasun managed system integration at the Roosendaal station, including installation, equipment hook-up, and testing
