Strategic value realised for client as a result of targeted, value-based maintenance driven by advanced leak detection technologies, which safeguard environmental integrity and maximised financial returns for process owners.
Score’s client had a corroded actuator fitted on a control valve on their offshore production platform. Recognising the potential risks posed by undiagnosed through-valve leakages they knew they needed an expert to identify and mitigate these risks.
Score’s engineering and maintenance experts investigated the valves performance history, assessing the valve to be a bad actor that could have been a result of ongoing undiagnosed through-valve leakages. Score technicians mobilised to site to carry out the visual inspection and through-valve leak detection survey, using Score’s proprietary MIDAS®Meter, a key component of Score’s Emission Elimination Program toolkit. The survey findings revealed significant process leakage that required immediate action.
Following discussion with Score, and considering financial and environmental risk assessment, the client decided to isolate the valve. As a result, Score’s proactive intervention resulted in the reduction in CO2 equivalent emissions, amounting to 66 kt per annum (equivalent to the emissions from approximately 14,348 cars in one year), translated into a significant USD 5 million in annual savings for the customer.
By working collaboratively with the client and jointly implementing maintenance strategies, asset performance was optimised and environmental impacts minimised.
